How Songle works.

Press play and identify the track. A wrong guess or skip unlocks a longer clip: 0.1, 0.5, 2, 8, then 15 seconds. Guess correctly before the final attempt to win.

Each lane has its own live round and remembers its progress when you switch. Easy searches Spotify’s most relevant results for your filters; harder lanes progressively explore deeper catalog results. Difficulty never changes audio quality.

The era is exact. Multiple genres and multiple artists are inclusive choices: each round samples one of your selected genres and one of your selected artists. Leave either group empty to allow everything in it.

Yes. Connect Spotify and paste a playlist URL. Songle reads playlists you own or collaborate on through Spotify’s API. For another public playlist, it can make a best-effort import from Spotify’s public embed page and then resolve the tracks through the authenticated API.

The in-browser player uses Spotify’s Web Playback SDK, which requires Premium. Songle does not download or proxy recordings; Spotify plays each clip directly for the connected account.

Songle remains playable with 25 fictional tracks whose audio and artwork are generated locally. Demo mode is also what automated tests use, so no commercial recording is bundled into this repository.

Settings, history, normalized playlist metadata, and progress stay in local storage. Spotify access and refresh tokens live only in an encrypted, HttpOnly same-origin cookie. Catalog, artist, and playlist requests pass through this app’s Worker to Spotify. There are no analytics or databases.

Challenge links currently stay limited to the local demo catalog. The server encrypts a fixture ID and score into an opaque, expiring URL. No Spotify token, playlist, account, or public leaderboard is included.
